SEATTLE (October 8, 2015) — Encompassing Seattle City Light’s recent artwork purchases portraying Seattle and its surrounding landscape, Seattle Simplified will be on view in two separate installations beginning October 1, 2015. The two exhibitions feature 56 contemporary artworks including paintings, multi-media, photography and prints from 36 artists.

Seattle Simplified is a collection of artworks representing components of Seattle’s past, present and future. The exhibition portrays different characteristics of Seattle including its Native American roots, changing landscape and environment. The artworks encompass a variety of mediums including painting, sand-etching and utilizing unusual materials including pieces of automobile gas tank cover.

Part 1 is on view from October 1 to December 2, 2015, featuring artwork from artists Gayle Bard, Lockwood Dennis, Alano Edzerza, Terry Furchgott, Justin Gibbens, Jonelle Johnson, Gwen Knight, Kent Lovelace, Richard Morhous, Marvin Oliver, Lucinda Parker, Loretta Pettway, Michael Nicoll Yahgulanaas, Manuel Salazar, lessLIE Sam, Christine Sharp, Preston Singletary, Jennifer Stanton and Emily Wood. A reception will be held on November 10, 2015 from 4 to 6 p.m.

Part 2 is on view from December 21, 2015 to April 3, 2016, featuring artwork from artists Juan Alonso-Rodriguez, Alfredo Arreguin, Debbie Napaljari Brown, Diem Chau, Nancy Coleman, Malayka Gormally, Mary Iverson, Doug Keyes, Sohee Kim, Lisa Snow Lady, Jacob Lawrence, Richard Morhous, Mary Ann Peters, Qwalsius Shaun Peterson, Barbara Robertson, Elizabeth T. Scott, Adam Sorensen, and Nina Tichava. A reception will be held on February 8, 2016 from 4 to 6 p.m.
